Blog 2: Why did i choose study psicology?

As a child I dreamed of being a dancer, singer and teacher, all together at the same time. I also wanted to be Spiderman.

Then when I grew up, I was between studying law and psychology. I believe that law is a career that, if used in a good way, can help many people, as in matters such as human rights. I first studied psychology, then I spent a year in law and finally decided to continue in psychology. Although I did not like the law degree, I learned a lot and I believe that all learning is good.

I believe that mental health is essential for all people to develop and have well-being. I remember that when I was 15 years old, I saw the documentary "The culture of sex" by TVN, where different ways of understanding and living sexuality are presented,being something that strongly influenced me. In a chapter of the documentary, the experience of a group that fights for the sexual rights of people with disabilities appears (15:00) and I realized that these issues are not presented in Chile.

Sexuality and sex education are issues that he considered at the time and still fundamental, being something in which I would like to learn more and be able to contribute. 

I believe that in Chile sex education is something that doesn't exist and the sexuality continues to be a taboo. Our generation is opening spaces for the issue to be presented and discussed, from Feminism and the LGBTQ + movement, and I would like to contribute in these spaces from my career. I am interested in clinical, community, social and legal psychology. I am not very clear about which path I will continue in the career, but I hope that my work can contribute something.
